Our Work

Be the Change engages in a variety of projects and programs from year to year.  We focus on the intersections of social justice, structural inequity, and sustainability and work at the neighborhood and local level to affect systemic change.

Events and Opportunities

Calling all Farmers!  This fall of 2016 we are looking for garlic growers to participate in a new Garlic Festival we’re creating with the Local Food Network to occur in July of 2017 to support local agriculture, build community, and celebrate this great high desert crop.

Clothing Distribution  If you work with the needy or know
an organization that does, contact us about our clothing distribution program.

Summer Mural Project on Wedekind Avenue  Two more huge murals with 10 more local High School student-artists led by Pan Pantoja .  Interested in volunteering or contributing?  Email Kyle at kisacksen@gmail.com.

Prison Teaching  Dr. Susan Chandler teaches classes weekly at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.   Susan is a retired UNR social work professor, one of our board members, our neighbor, and Katy’s mother!  Contact Susan at chandler@unr.edu for more information.

Speaking Engagements  We love to share about what we do and how we do it.  We’ve spoken at Renown Hospital, the Sierra Club, Patagonia, UNR Classes & Events, SculptureFest, movie showings, and community events.
